Welcoming Message from the Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Investment
Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Investment, National Assembly, Abuja.
In accordance with the constitutional mandate of the National Assembly to legislate, appropriate, and conduct oversight over the implementation of government programs and policies, the Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Investment welcomes all stakeholders to the Nation First Summit 2025.
Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Investment, National Assembly, Abuja.
This summit is convened as a strategic response to the urgent need for coordinated national action in addressing the multidimensional crises of poverty, insecurity, and humanitarian displacement. It is anchored on the principles of inclusive governance, inter-agency collaboration, and evidence-based policymaking—core tenets of our legislative oversight function as enshrined in Sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The Committee recognizes that poverty alleviation is not merely a social imperative but a constitutional obligation. The Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, provides a visionary framework for national transformation. This summit aligns with that agenda by creating a platform for policy refinement, stakeholder engagement, and institutional accountability.
We are therefore calling on all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs)—particularly those whose mandates intersect with poverty reduction, humanitarian response, and national security—to participate fully in this summit. Your presence is not only expected; it is essential. The outcomes of this summit will inform legislative recommendations, budgetary priorities, and programmatic interventions across sectors.
Let it be known that this is not a ceremonial gathering. It is a working summit. It is a legislative instrument for national renewal. It is a call to action.

Let us embrace this moment. Let us embrace our people. Let us legislate with compassion, invest with courage, and govern with clarity.
