Welcoming Message from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Federal Republic of Nigeria
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction is honoured to welcome all participants to the Nation First Summit 2025, a landmark initiative designed to address the intersecting challenges of poverty, insecurity, and humanitarian crises in Nigeria.
Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction
This summit is convened in alignment with the Ministry’s statutory mandate to coordinate national responses to humanitarian emergencies, strengthen social protection systems, and advance poverty reduction strategies across all regions of the country. As outlined in the National Social Protection Policy and reinforced by Executive directives, our Ministry serves as the central coordinating body for multi-sectoral interventions that safeguard vulnerable populations and promote inclusive development.
The Nation First Summit is not only timely—it is imperative. Nigeria faces a complex humanitarian landscape marked by displacement, food insecurity, and economic hardship. These challenges demand a whole-of-government approach, and this summit provides the platform to forge that consensus.
In full support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, this summit reflects our commitment to bold reform, strategic leadership, and collaborative innovation. It is a space where policy meets practice, where vision meets action, and where national resilience is built through partnership.
We therefore extend a formal call to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), development partners, civil society organizations, and private sector actors to participate actively in this summit. Your insights, data, and institutional experience are vital to shaping the humanitarian coordination platform, public-private partnership framework, and inclusive growth strategies that will emerge from this dialogue.
